I once attended a writing conference where the speaker Ridley Scott said getting authors into one place at any one time for any one purpose was like herding cats.
We had our second member meeting last night and 'herding cats' pawed its way into my thoughts on the drive home. I laughed not unlike a maniac and hoped I wouldn't get stopped by a local deputy for fear I'd be dragged out the car and given a Breathalyzer test right then and there.
No, it wasn't that bad. The meeting either. In fact, after Nancy Larsen from Griffin Bay Bookstore left, this second meeting became a sort of free-for-all brainstorming session. The agenda became a scratch pad. So many creatives in one place lends itself to ideas flying like bats in a cave.
We did, however, get some work done... ideas for the website, traffic to and from and in-between member sites, the bookstore, and this site. Ideas for the future, BIG AWESOME ideas like a full-blown writers conference in Friday Harbor for local authors and readers to mix it up. Even a date set to May 4th, 2019. Big awesome ideas. And why? Because we are awesome authors.
